Premier League Highlights: Dominant Man City Crush Rivals, Liverpool Triumph.

Premier League Sunday Roundup: City Dominate Derby, Salah Makes History

Another thrilling Premier League Sunday delivered drama, records, and milestones.

Liverpool leave it late: Defending champions Liverpool edged promoted Burnley 2-1 thanks to a stoppage-time penalty from Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian star’s goal—his 188th in the Premier League—moved him past Andrew Cole into fourth place on the league’s all-time scorers list, trailing only Alan Shearer (260), Harry Kane (213), and Wayne Rooney (208). Liverpool also became the first team in league history to win four straight matches via goals scored in the final 10 minutes or later.

City crush United in derby: In the late kickoff, Manchester City overpowered rivals Manchester United 3-0 in a one-sided derby. Phil Foden opened the scoring with a first-half header before Erling Haaland struck twice after the break—his 50th goal in 50 home Premier League appearances, making him the second-fastest to the milestone after Shearer (47 games). It marked Haaland’s 22nd multi-goal league game since 2022, trailing only Kylian Mbappé (25) across Europe’s top five leagues.

For City boss Pep Guardiola, it was a 10th Premier League derby win, joining Sir Alex Ferguson (20) and Matt Busby (15) as the only managers to reach double figures. Meanwhile, United’s four points from their first four games equals their worst start since 1992-93.
