Asia Cup 2025: India Seals Comfortable Seven-Wicket Triumph Over Pakistan.

India Dominate Pakistan by Seven Wickets in Asia Cup 2025 Group A Clash

Dubai, UAE — Pakistan’s wait for a long-awaited victory over India in men’s cricket continues after a commanding seven-wicket win by the defending champions in their Asia Cup 2025 Group A encounter on Sunday.

Opener Abhishek Sharma set the tone immediately, smashing 31 runs off just 13 balls to dismantle Pakistan’s attack in the opening overs, including a flurry of boundaries against pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav then anchored the chase with 47 off 37 deliveries, sealing the win in the 16th over with a towering six.

Though Saim Ayub briefly brightened Pakistan’s bowling effort by taking all three Indian wickets—including Shubman Gill (10) and Tilak Varma (31)—India never looked under pressure while chasing the modest target of 128.

Pakistan’s innings had faltered early after captain Salman Ali Agha chose to bat first. Ayub fell to Hardik Pandya on the first ball, and Mohammad Haris was dismissed soon after by Jasprit Bumrah. Despite a late surge from Afridi and leg-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, who combined for several boundaries in the final overs, Pakistan managed only 127/9 in their 20 overs.

India’s spinners were clinical, sharing six wickets over ten overs to choke Pakistan’s middle order.

The win gives India two more points and their second consecutive tournament victory, while Pakistan are left reflecting on another missed chance against their archrivals. Next up, Pakistan face the UAE on Wednesday, while India will take on Oman on Friday.
